Some cards using this stamp. They work for the March ODBD challenge. OWH always need cards with a masculine look so that is what I was going for. For this card I used my new Misti stamping tool. So easy to make 4 of this card. I first stamped the background and then stamped it again to get perfect coverage in exactly the same spot. After I stamped the background I did the same with the cow, stamped 4 images, twice each time.Corahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05206020045032504124noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1030280758718679116.post-29400683975954316682015-01-31T15:17:00.004-08:002015-01-31T15:17:59.659-08:00Thanks

I have been doing very well sticking to that. For these cards I used years old squares of the Basic Grey Archaic line. I used up every inch of it. I wish I had more. I was able to make 5 cards, scrappy cards #32 through #36. These will go in my OWH box.
With the holidays over I have challenged myself to use papers that have already been cut. This card is the first. I had to wheel the rolling cart holding my uncut designer paper out of the room.
I also had fun using my Wink Of Stella clear marker. So here they are. All seven of them
The ODBD card for the month of October is for a card with snowflakes.

Every month Our Daily Bread Designs donates the cost of shipping up to 2 boxes to Operation Write Home for each 25 cards. Thank you for doing that.

The Our Daily Bread Designs Sept. challenge at OWH is for a card made with your own background. I started by brayering the color onto the cardstock. After I used the embossing folder I brayered again and also dabbed on some Distress inks. When I was adding some ink to the image the little pad fell on it so I had to add more distressing to cover the mistake. After I took a scan of the card I added 3 little Swarovski crystals to the tips of the A. This card is already in the mail.
I didn't emboss this image and sentiment. I used stamps from 4 different sets. I did add a spider brad that has jewels. The two cards above are both made with The Taylored Expressions Color blocking plate.
It has been 2 weeks since I updated my blog so I guess it is time. I took a little vacation from card making to read a book. This will be the first set of cards in a new box for OWH. There will be 6 cards.

The image is Provo Craft clipart, no longer available. The sentiment is stamps from Technique Tuesday. The paper is Bo Bunny.

I borrowed these Onyx Xpressions stamps from a friend a week ago. I have been wanting to use them and this sketch seemed perfect. I had to tweak it a little. I couldn't mount my images because they were a little large. It works though and I like it. I may make some duplicates.

Corahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05206020045032504124noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1030280758718679116.post-39253504752181737052014-06-05T08:40:00.001-07:002014-06-05T09:19:03.659-07:00Tutorial on Color BlockingI posted a similar tutorial to this last week but I deleted it because I thought it was stupid. I used the Taylored Expressions Color Block die.

In this first picture you will see the frame that the die cuts. I laid it on top of a piece of lightweight cardstock I will fasten it to. I used tape around the edges and on the inside strips I used a bit of Mono Adhesive glue. I used my Copic marker over the inside lines to come close to the color of the frame. I will show you why next.

When laying down the frame follow the outside edges of the bottom cardstock exactly. Smooth the inside strips after the outside frame is in place. The frame is wobbly and you want it to be perfectly straight or the inside blocks will not fit correctly. Now you get to start using the die to cut scraps of paper to fit in the blocks.

This is my first block glued in place. See that little crack at the top and bottom of the block? You can't see it? You can't see it because I colored that space with the marker. If you use a sheet of white paper to lay the frame on you will see that crack and it stands out like a sore thumb.

This is the finished card. I glued a star to the bottom block and a popped up button on the top.

Last year I bought several sheets of this glittery (wet look embossing) Best Creations paper. It was $1.49 a sheet regular price and I bought it for $.20. I cut the bottom section off the sheet and each piece made 3 card size pieces. I made several cards last year and I am ready to be done with it this year. There will be 18 cards.

I tried to make it into a "miss you" card but it just wasn't working. I haven't used this Impression Obsession stamp for a few years.

On the following card I used the top section of the paper which was a nice blue. I also bought several sheets of the surfboard paper which was from the same paper line. It is also nice and glittery (built in wet look embossing)
After seeing the cards made with sketch 215 I decided to give it a try. I think I used about 6 sheets of paper from a pad of S.E.I. I made 6 of almost the same of the first card and used the leftovers to make 3 of the second card. I could probably make a couple more cards with the leftovers if I was so inclined, which I am not.
I want to keep this post brief so you have time to visit more blogs. The theme this year is cards with patriotic colors.

The stamp I used is from Stampotique. I can't remember what I colored it with. Maybe Copics, maybe Stampin Up markers. As my late mother-in-law would say, "I have slept since then". It doesn't really matter anyway. The letter U was cut with Sizzix Sizzlets that haven't seen any love for a long time. The polka dot paper and the cardstock are all from Bazzill.

The I miss you sentiment is a Stampin Up stamp I bought on the cheap from my St Vincent DePaul thrift store. The Hanging hearts stamp is from Stampotique. I used a lighter shade of blue for the background paper. It is from the DCWV small pad Dots Stripes Plaids. It has some built in wet look embossing.
Sometimes I like to use my Copics. This is a Bugaboo digital image. Paula used this image a week or so ago. I had a packet of a dozen on my desk all ready to color. Well, I colored them all and didn't like them so they went in the round file. I started from scratch and made four cards. I used the Copic X-Pressit blending card. There is such a huge difference when blending colors when you use it. I love these bright citrus colors for summer. The orange Bazzill I have had for years. You know, you wonder when you will ever use it. Today was the day! I combined it with the Bo Bunny yellow Double dot line.
The ODBD challenge for April is a card featuring insects. I have had this lightning bug paper by Bo Bunny for sometime. I decided this time of the year was a good time to use it. The troops should get this card to send out in the summer. I tried to use colors that would appeal to men so I used kraft paper. The 4 you sentiment is a Stampin Up stamp I bought at our St Vincent DePaul thrift shop. The banner dies are also from Stampin Up. I made 6 of these cards. Seems like I have been making a lot of cards in multiples of 6.
OWH card maker and supporter, Suzanne, recently passed away. This card is in her honor and inspired by one of her cards.

The image is colored clipart from Provo Craft. The sentiment is from one of OWH stamp sets by Hero Arts. The banner is from Stampin Up. I popped up the sentiment so the card scanned brighter at the top than at the bottom.
I made 6 cards using this DCWV paper from the Painted Petals Pack. Sometimes it is hard to use striped paper like this. I fussy cut some flowers from another sheet that is full of flowers that are too big for anything else.
